There are two sides to every coin, but it’s funny how often we only see one.
Lately, I’ve been noticing how easy it is to default to the “excuse” side.
Not out of laziness or lack of desire… but because excuses are just the easiest answer. They’re a great way to let ourselves off the hook and say “it’s not my fault”.
Like:
“My clients can’t afford higher prices”
“I don’t have the right gear to make good videos”
“I’d love to offer that service, but I’m not an expert”
I’ve caught myself saying these exact things… And they might even be true. But they’re only one side of the coin.
You could just as easily look at those same issues, and fame things differently:
“Maybe I can raise prices and offer payment plans”
“I’ll start with my phone and upgrade later when I start seeing returns”
“What if I took a course or found a white-label partner?”
Some of the most successful agency owners I know aren’t magicians. They’re not always the most talented. They weren’t handed success on a silver platter.
They just see the other side of the coin.
Where we might see an excuse, they see an opportunity.
Same problem, wildly different outcomes.
The hardest part isn’t spotting the opportunity… It’s admitting when you’re choosing not to. It’s catching yourself reaching into your bag of excuses instead of taking a step back and looking around for a solution.
But we have to be willing to hold ourselves accountable.
