Holy ???? — I can’t believe GenerateBlocks is doing this! ????

Any day now, GenerateBlocks will release the alpha version of 1.7, and with it comes some major changes to how just about everything works.

Personally — I’m absolutely pumped and these changes are ones that I’ve asked Tom about on calls in the past.

I know that backward compatibility is extremely important to the folks at GenerateBlocks, so I’m sure everything you’ve already created will continue to work just like it always has… but going forward there are going to be massive benefits to doing things the “new” way.

What we’re mainly talking about here is flexbox.

Flexbox has been a big part of how GenerateBlocks has always worked… but most of it was being done for you behind the scenes, and you didn’t have controls to adjust all the flex settings.

But with this release — you will.

This is going to drastically reduce the number of “grid” blocks you need to use, and make creating more complex layouts a lot easier (while also significantly reducing the code GenerateBlocks produces).

While I think all of this is great and I have been giddy ever since I saw it, I do have some concerns for GenerateBlocks users as a whole… If you don’t have a good grasp of how flexbox works, then I think this update could be really confusing and frustrating.

It’s going to take a little time to get used to — but I promise, it’s going to be worth it.

Jonathan from Permaslug has already made a preview video showing off some of the new features — and I know Mike Oliver will be tackling all of this inside his private community.

I’m sure along the way I’ll be sharing tips, tricks, and how I’m using it… but for now, I wanted to share something that I think will be more helpful while this release goes through all the alpha and beta testing phases; resources.

Just below, I’ve included links to videos, interactive games, courses, and articles all aimed at helping you learn flexbox.

A lot of these will be outside of the context of GenerateBlocks, but when you understand the fundamentals of how flexbox works — everything GenerateBlocks is doing is going to make perfect sense.

Everything I’m sharing below is resources I’ve used myself and are perfect for the person learning flexbox for the first time, or those of you who just need a refresher.

I hope that you find these useful and that this helps prepare you for what’s coming — GenerateBlocks is taking a massive leap forward and we’re all going to benefit from it!
